On the First Day of Christmas, we decided to be more accepting of others
On the Second day we decided to make gift giving even easier by managing our gift giving expectations.
On the Third Day of Christmas, we checked IN on the plan
On the Forth Day we decided to LOOK at our gift giving habits
On the Fifth we decided to get REAL, to NOT should on ourselves or others!
On the Sixth day we will try to be KINDER to ourselves.
On the Seventh day, we are going to be nice, thoughtful and kind to others.
On the 8th day we are going to look at and challenged our qualifiers
On the Ninth day, we are going to look at Gratefulness
Now on the Tenth day, we are going to create SMILES
Now on the Eleventh day we are going to check in on how we are doing with this whole series.
This might mean reading over things again (yes skimming is fine). It might be looking for some places where you got stuck or that were just too tough to do. This is about LEARNING about you, and where you may struggle during the holidays.
It is NOT about beating yourself up for not doing it right!
It is about looking at YOU, and being KIND but honest.
Then, maybe share those struggles with a trusted person. Maybe just reflect. This is just about looking, not changing. It can help guide you on the things you might want to work on, on the areas where you might want to create some changes. Knowledge is power, and looking at how you did over all these posts, will give you power over what comes next. And not just around the holiday, but about how you will move through your world.
This ALSO means:
Looking at where you nailed it!!!!
How we are “doing” is so often focused on where we struggle, and that is fine, needed even. BUT it is JUST as important (I’d argue MORE important) to look at where we “nailed it!”
Now, this does NOT mean you did things PERFECTLY, it just means you did well! That you feel proud, that you hit the mark (also means the mark you set was likely a realistic one!). Now share your successes! It it often harder to share GOOD stuff, but equally important to DO so. So. often we get togther and have “bitch sessions” or when we chat with others its about what is WRONG. Again, needed but sharing the GOOD is marvelous!
Look at where you made progress!
Progress is IMPORTANT and often we need to move toward “nailing it” by taking small steps. So, if you didn’t NAIL IT, look for places you made progress. Look for the things you feel good about, even if it’s not in the nailed it category.
Self-reflection is often NOT kind, so please BE KIND to yourself. LOOK for self-knowledge for what works and what doesn’t. It’s about seeing ourselves more clearly. It’s about seeing and celebrating progress AND about seeing where we might be stuck. Only if we see both can we look toward growth. If you ONLY see the negative, you will Ilkley jut GIVE UP. Balance is key.
AND, give yourself “GO ME MOMENTS” by the truck load!
Oh, right you don’t know what a “GO ME MOMENT” is!!!
Come back for The Twelfth Day of Christmas to learn about them!
